Say Orient Express and it instantly conjures up pictures of glitz, glamour and fine living, and the old-world luxury that is so hard to find in today’s convenience-store and ready-meal world. This is the sister train to the legendary Orient Express of Hercule Poirot fame and when it comes to luxury, it’s unrivalled.

Let’s start with the Murder Mystery excursions where you work out Whodunnit as you tuck into a gourmet meal:

If you want to go on your own, or wish to give this experience as a very welcome gift to one person, then that’s fine too. Quite a few travellers treat themselves to this on their own, and soon feel at home with the other friendly passengers and excellent crew.

What happens on a British Pullman experience?
As you’ll see from the list, there’s a wonderful variety of things you can do and places you can go on the British Pullman. They do however all set off from London Victoria in the fantastic luxury carriages you’d associate with the Simplon Orient Express, complete with distinctive livery.
You’re welcomed by the most attentive staff you can imagine and looked after like royalty. Food, whether it be brunch, lunch or dinner, is exquisite, accompanied by fine wines or champagne according to the menu your top chefs have chosen.
Dress will vary depending on your itinerary – formal wear might be appropriate for a period murder mystery trip, or a romantic dinner evening, but you don’t want to go on a walking tour of bath in a dinner suit. Though whatever you wear, it must be smart. Scruffs definitely aren’t welcome on board the Pullman, and jeans or trainers would simply be out of place. So do make an effort. Everybody else will, and dressing up is an integral part of the enjoyment on this historic luxury train.
What if I live in the North of England and don’t want to go to London?
Well I’m glad you asked. You’re in luck, as there is a sister Pullman train featuring all the same style, panache and luxury as this one, but based in and serving purely the North of England. You want the Northern Belle, and we’ve reviewed it and found you the best prices on this very site.
